Physical Science

Understand that the sun is the ultimate source of energy and that energy can be transferred from one type to another


Energy can be observed as heat, light, electrical, sound, chemical and nuclear and can be observed as kinetic or potential


Study how forces act on objects. A force is needed to move an object


Understand the force of friction can effect the movement of objects


Learn about how planes and birds fly based on the similar shape of their wings


Learn the three states of matter and their characteristics


Introduce the metric system as the scientific method of measuring things. Perform hands-on activities with length, capacity, mass and temperature


Life Science

 
Learn the main parts of flowering plants and their functions



Understand the process of photosynthesis


Observe how plants are affected by changes in their environment (light, water, soil, fertilizer)
 Study animal behavior in terms of stimulus and response.


Observe the life cycles of animals: moth/butterfly and or frog


Understand the difference between inherited and learned traits in living things






Earth and Space Science



Learn the water cycle


Study weather and record the day-to-day changes using real weather instruments


Learn about the parts of the earth and its surface changes created by earthquakes, volcanoes and erosion


Technology and Engineering


Design an invention using the design process
